In future, when i ever come across an app/software/free web tool that i have used and been delighted with, i will post it here.
I am going to start it off today my introducing not one, but two little lifesavers
I have had problems for months on my main Brand That Name website with my SSL certificate. I kept getting error messages in Chrome telling me certain pages on my site were not fully secure, including the two most important pages, my homepage and my Leeds page.
I had no idea exactly what was causing these errors, but then i came across this free tool:
It runs a check on every page of your website and pinpoints exactly where the issues lie on each page.
It showed me that a couple of images on my site were saved on http:// not https:// and that code i was using for my SEO Audit form contained links to an external http:// site.
All i had to do at this point was to alter these url’s in my site to https:// and Hey Presto, the issues were fixed. My website now shows this sexy little green padlock on each page!
I also had a similar issue on another site of mine, this time however there were hundreds of errors, which would have taken hours to go through and amend. Until i found this:
This plugin literally found every instance of “http://” in my site’s WordPress database in seconds. Then i entered “https://” once in the replace box and bang, another 30 seconds later and it was done. I popped the site’s url into the SSL checker above and tested. The result:
A fully secured 50 page WordPress website
